Popularity of Vacation Rental Homes on the Rise!!

Cape Cod: Vacation accommodations

Reaching out into the Atlantic like a flexing arm, “The Cape”, as it is affectionately known, is the place where many New Englanders head to for their summer vacation.  Surrounded by 400 miles of beautiful white sand beaches, this pseudo peninsula (it is actually an island) is home to quaint fishing villages and resident artist havens; there are also miles of biking and hiking trails and excellent local seafood at every turn.

For the convenience of the locals Cape Cod is known as four distinct regions: the Upper-Cape, which includes the towns of Sandwich and Bourne, is an area that is directly connected to the mainland via two bridges; the Mid-Cape, home to Hyannis and nearly 70% of the area’s population; the Lower-Cape, the elbow region filled with family-oriented communities, and the Outer-Cape, (my personal preference) home to the beautiful beaches on the National Seashore and vibrant Provincetown.  The Island’s region includes Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket.  Nantucket is quintessentially New England, a seaside town with cobbled streets and a very interesting Whaling Museum.  Martha’s Vineyard has become synonymous with the wealthy and privileged, though the seaside villages, great beaches and ocean views draw crowds of all types.  Edgartown and a number of other locations on the island were used during the filming of the 1975 movie JAWS.

Cape Cod accommodations

There are a wide variety of options to choose from when selecting a place to stay at the Cape.  The hotels and motels vary in quality as they would anywhere, and range from chain establishments to regional favorites and locally well-known icons of hospitality; bed and breakfast venues are also popular with some visitors.

Some hotels offer package deals or special rates depending on when the stay is booked and for how long.  Hotels offer a number of amenities that are included with the nightly rate or are covered by a small fee, such as Internet access, free breakfast and concierge services.

On the downside, staying in a hotel can be limiting in some ways.  If American Plan is not booked then having no access to a kitchen requires eating out for every meal, which can be quite pricey in Cape Cod. Unless a suite is booked the space for relaxing is limited to one room.  For families and large groups, hotel rooms can be expensive simply due to the number of people being housed. One of the discount hotels should be sought out if the bill needs to be kept down to a more reasonable level.

Vacation rentals

Vacation rentals are very popular with visitors to the Cape; they range from cottages and bungalows to condominiums, flats and full-size houses. They have the great advantage of providing a freedom to truly live like a local.  Private individuals that actually live in the Cape own many of the vacation rentals, and the properties have all the comforts and features of a family home.  Many of the residences have multiple bedrooms, allowing families and large groups to stay together, thereby saving money. The use of the fully equipped kitchens allows for some serious money saving on the food-front as well.  Vacation rentals are also easy to locate, with everything from condominiums to full-size houses being available almost anywhere on the Cape. Vacation rentals are a positive choice for those who wish to truly immerse themselves in the Cape Cod experience.

Say Yes to New England and enjoy a Vacation Rental Home on Cape Cod this summer!

  1. Purchasing a rental condo provides an opportunity to own a property in a choice location. These days Condo complexes include tennis courts, workout rooms and fitness centers, swimming pools and spas, beach access etc.
