Momentary Bliss from Freshwater to Saltwater

Photo: Monomoy Island Excursions
While lathering up and soaking in the strong rays of sunshine this past weekend we could not help but notice a large object curiously gazing upon the beach. As we got closer to the water’s edge the black entity quickly popped its head back under and swam away. These seal encounters happen every day here on Cape Cod and with only feet between the soothing sand and massive seals we could not help but be stunned.

Captivated by this sighting the NEVR team sought out to experience more so we turned to Captain Pete at Monomoy Island Excursions.  Captain Pete and his trained team leave out of Saquatucket Harbor every day to journey past beautiful sights one can only see from the water. Stage harbor, Monomoy Island and Chatham Light house are a few spots along the outing where breath taking views are met with humbling run-ins with the natural inhabitants like seals, birds and fish.

Not only are the Nantucket Sound, Atlantic Ocean and the Bay perfect for these daily boat excursions but have become the ideal kayaking and stand up paddle boarding locations. Combining both exercise and our personal favorite activity, tanning, kayaking and stand up paddle boarding make for the perfect Cape day too. Unique locations like Herring River in Harwich, Lower Pleasant Bay in Chatham and Upper Mill Pond in Brewster allow for these activities to take a course of true adventure and serenity.

Our paddle boarding travels with our friends Juliette and Ryan from SUPfari Adventures have taken us along the many ponds and shorelines of the Cape. These rides have brought us not only momentary bliss from the seabirds songs but a soothing ride from freshwater to saltwater past wrens, wading birds and regal ospreys.  For us this is always the perfect way to get our bodies moving, enjoy the many scenic views of this place we call home and get some vitamin C.
